After the success of Intersectional's online exhibition, we present a new iteration of art created in the time of shutdowns, lock-downs, social distancing, and self-isolation.
As creatives we know there is a need to create and to use art to explain, understand, question, critique, and to entertain. We invite you to join us in presenting work made during this shutdown to the world in this exhibition.
This is a curated show, managed by A. David Holloway. Please use the online form to submit your work. Submission is free. Physical work is the responsibility of the artist to have delivered and returned.

OPEN CALL TO CREATIVES WORLDWIDE!
The Q Collective is running their first exhibition in their online gallery. So join us and take part in our first exhibition of the year. 'Your Landscape; Observations From Inside Quarantine.'
A landscape is the visible features of an area, and how they integrate with natural or man-made features.
The word landscape brings on images of desert dunes, snow-capped mountains and rich green forests.
Some of you have the opportunity to live in beautiful picturesque places, but for many of us, we live in cities. Right now most of us are home, watching the seasons change from the window without necessarily experiencing it the way we are used to. Most of us have also gotten very accustomed to the never-changing-landscape that our homes provide.
We want to see YOUR landscape.
The goal of this is to think of your current environment in a different way. We want you to create a piece in any medium, visual or written, that consists of “Your Landscape; Observations From Inside Quarantine”
Through this project we hope you will have the opportunity to network, to share in a collective community project, and finally to showcase your work in a virtual gallery that will be open to the public online.
To submit your artwork, please e-mail your images to firstname.lastname@example.org (preferred 300 dpi). Deadline is Sunday the 26th of April, 2020.
The pieces will be adjudicated based on specific criteria (respect of theme, technique, overall style, creativity).
Date to be released soon for the opening of the collection of selected works. Gallery links to view the exhibition will be sent out prior to the opening too, and we'll welcome anyone and everyone to join us on Zoom to share thoughts and ideas about the work you’ve created and the work you see in the gallery. Just like a real exhibition opening!
We look forward to seeing what you creative geniuses will come up with!
In this current situation, a time of economic uncertainty for many artists, we would like to do our part and invite one artist to collaborate with us on a very exciting project, giving them the opportunity to have their work featured in print. We are looking for someone to help us by creating an artwork that we will feature on a range of products that Descoverartists will be releasing for the year 2020. Alongside this, the selected artist will also receive 500 Euros and have the chance to be interviewed and featured in our upcoming zine. We hope that way, we can help to offset some of the losses artists are facing due to recent project postponements and other cancellations.

Call for Digital Artist Residency
Without precedent and with immediate effect, society is endeavouring to understand, adapt, and evolve to a whole new concept: Social Isolation.
In this present world-wide crisis - where physical contact, day to day life, and community interaction is severely restricted - individuals are finding themselves in the new and startling reality of navigating a world of rapidly evolving social norms.
Street By Street aims to explore the personal and social geography of our neighbourhood. It seeks out creative, non-physical ways to navigate human connectivity and kindness in an effort to create a better picture of our community, to connect with those around us despite barriers, and to build stronger links for the future.
We are interested in proposals that, over a two-month period, remotely explore the concept of connecting people 'street by street' through creativity and innovation. The selected applicant will produce a body of work that investigates geographical areas in the context of the social and personal topography of those who live there.
Submissions are open worldwide and to arts collectives or researchers - anyone exploring the boundaries of art, technology, and social engagement. more informations available here

Error & Power - Artist Residency and Exhibition Opportunity Residency: 20 April 2020 – 15 May 2020
Exhibition: Online throughout the residency period and beyond. Physical exhibition dates to be confirmed
Given that we are now confined to our homes, we’ve decided to change the current Error & Power residency callout to a Residency at Home format so that we can continue to support artists in these difficult times.
Instead of being in residence at Artcore’s building the artists will work from their own space, improvising with whatever materials they have or can get hold of, or perhaps working with digital media, and broadcasting both live and recorded material as the work progresses – the broadcast material could potentiallty be the form or medium of the work, or both.
We would like to retain the ‘Error & Power’ theme, though given what has happened over the last few weeks you might now interpret this very differently to how you might previously. learn more here

DIY is an opportunity for artists working in Live Art to conceive and run unusual research, training and professional development projects for themselves and other artists.

DIY is all about creating spaces to explore new ideas and test new methodologies.
The Quarantine Residency is an online residency program that will culminate in a digital exhibition and gallery show. Selected artists will be invited to engage in a series of online critiques and artist talks, as well as being selected for the exhibition. We are collaborating with galleries and curators across the world to select artists, be involved in online critiques, and eventually stage the gallery exhibition.
We invite artists (or anyone who wishes to participate) to use this period of imposed quarantine as a ‘residency’ opportunity, to create artwork emerging from this experience of quarantine. If you are in a country or locality that has not yet had such a quarantine imposed upon you, we nevertheless invite you to participate - it would be best for everyone to stay at home during this period!
While this is a moment of great difficulty for many, there are already many stories of people using this time creatively. In this otherwise fissiparous point in human history, the coronavirus and associated quarantine is providing something like a common or unifying experience. In addition to the artwork that is made during the period of quarantine, we would also like to collect the stories of this experience. We would like to collect a short bio of the artist/participant, a photograph of the space of quarantine, and some short description of the time in quarantine. These elements - the artist, the artwork, space and experience of quarantine - we will combine to create an exhibition, initially online. We are in discussions with a number of galleries to present a physical exhibition of selected work at a later date. We accept submissions of any form of artwork, provided it was created during a period of quarantine or self isolation. Submission: Please submit: Images of the artwork you create A picture of the space you were quarantined A short bio A description of your experience in quarantine Submit to email@example.com quarantineresidency.com
Short Film Competition __ and farther
If you want to share your experience or thoughts or tell a story with audio and video, participate in the “meter and farthest” competition for the short film. A meter and farther … the distance required between you and the other in the time of the Corona, in a period we most need to communicate despite the imposed distance. Exceptional days we live in must be documented or documented the ideas that inspire us and the stories that inspire us.
Your short film can be documentary, narrative, animation, experimental, or video art. It may be funny, crying, inspiring, sarcastic, surreal, or … It is important that this particular “historical” period be expressed, and about forced isolation and its aftermath. The important thing is not to go out to photograph it!
If one of the lessons we draw from this difficult period is the importance of our interconnectedness (in spite of the meter and the farthest) and the importance of our solidarity (away from the slogans).
The prize of 300 Jordanian dinars will go to the name of the winner for a charitable social initiative to provide aid to those in need and those affected by this crisis.
E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org with the mention of “meter and farthest competition” in the subject of the e-mail.

Current circumstances mean that a lot of us have lost out on opportunities, or had to cancel shows and events. We want to connect, create together, and keep on making. Starting with a virtual exhibition on our instagram of work that people have made (or are making) and would like to show. Whilst this won’t fill the void, it would be nice to have a collective showing of all the creative things you are doing.
We are asking for between one and three pictures, text, or videos, and a few lines about the work as a caption along with your instagram handle/website. These could be old works or things you’ve been making recently, and we will share your work on our instagram. After we have posted everyone’s submissions, we want to collect them into a digital zine to share both online and as a printable pdf for contributors.
This is open to anybody, and we are interested in all kind of works however because of the format submissions must be sent to us as either a JPEG or MP4 file. We are particularly keen to promote work by trans and non-binary, queer, disabled, and poc artists.
SEND SUBMISSIONS BEFORE: 05/04/2020.
BIDUD is an experimental web residency that invites artists, curators, and thinkers to present an instantaneous work/project on the main page of our website.
At this extraordinary time, when cultural institutions are closed, and individuals are held under isolation and quarantine, BIDUD aims to be an alternative and unmediated space for artists to share their thoughts and creations.
BIDUD is a flexible platform, and we invite the participants to rethink their practice according to the changing and restricting circumstances. One could choose to create a new project that responds directly to their daily limitations or the digital medium, while others reconnect early works under the new changing connotation.
Bidud's team, Tamir Erlich and Noy Haimovitz.

ONASSIS AiR, the (inter)national artistic research residency program in Athens, invites artists, curators, designers, activists, collectives, educators, lawyers, performance and film makers, economists, agitators, philosophers, and other practitioners to apply for 2020/21 Open Call: The Infinite Rehearsal in Four Movements, which runs between September 2020 and May 2021.
Fall 2020: Identities Annihilated Movement I: September 14-October 25, 2020 Movement II: November 2-December 13, 2020
Spring 2021: Everything Equally Evolved Movement III: February 17-March 31, 2021 Movement IV: April 7-May 19, 2021
Inspired by the title of a novel by Wilson Harris, The Infinite Rehearsal in Four Movements is conceived as a collective program focused on two research areas we find urgent to explore. Each Movement Group of five to six participants will engage in a collective “rehearsal,” bringing their own “instrument” in the form of their existing practice that clearly engages with one of the research topic areas in a radical way.
Fall 2020 & Spring 2021 Movement Groups will have one convener each—a practitioner in their own right, with an in-depth knowledge of the research topic explored, who will provide a framework for the two Movement Groups each will convene, in the form of possible readings, meetings with other practitioners, research trips, workshops, tools, etc.
THE WORLD TAKES A BREATH
bring together artistic and creative responses to our suddenly changing landscape.
COVID-19 has caused a global gasp for air. As we collectively exhale, we are grappling with the unknown realities of what will happen in the next week, month, or year. While we have become quickly familiar with the dangers, the negatives, and the problems around this global pandemic, perhaps we can also look for the positives by exploring future possibilities and capture this unfolding moment in history through art.
I want to show work that try to shine a light on a 'better future' - Can this adversity somehow unite a divided world? Are there benefits from a worldwide social and industrial shut down? Will funding for hospitals, museums, or research be easier? What can we learn from this?
Whether you’re working in film or video, written word or performance, sound or music – I want to include your artistic and creative response to COVID-19.
The intent is for this to be an online-only project to help with artistic exposure at a time when all of the world's galleries are closed. This is a free community-based project without submission or inclusion fees, and we will cover any hosting costs. Depending on interest, entries, and responses, there could be future opportunities for publication and presentation.
I hope this will be a fast, emotional, and powerful response around a subject that for the first time in history the whole planet is talking about.
The provisional launch date is 15 April 2020 so please send initial expressions of interest with a brief outline of your work to me by 3 April 2020:
I’d love this to reach as many people as possible so please share this far and wide with friends, colleagues, writers, artists, and creatives.
Now more than ever we need global solidarity. Not just in solidarity, but into it. We are entering a new space, a new physical paradigm that will in turn alter our modes of thinking, our decision making, problem solving, and the way we navigate our daily lives and decisions. We are moving into a new reality. In light of this, my project will now expand beyond the remembrance of solidarity in one specific cultural context, the 40th anniversary of a specific time during the original Solidarity Movement in Poland. Instead “Solidarity Project 2.0” will investigate the critical need for togetherness and unity in an age when physical proximity is eliminated, isolation is mandatory, and life as we know it is drastically changing at a rapid, alarming rate. We must bridge cultural differences, language barriers, multitudes of narratives and conflicting perspectives through a collection of unique creative interpretations that highlight what we all share: a common need for community, meaningful human connection and purpose. I call on artists to critically question and rethink what we do, the purpose of our work, and the significance of artistic creation in a time of crisis.
I hope my project will provide a chance to emphasize how creativity reveals our innate capacity, desire, and need for HUMANITY, EMPATHY, and SOLIDARITY. This project is intended to serve as an important time capsule of this moment. Multiple entries and approaches are encouraged, including diary-like approaches.
Please create one (or more if you like) pieces (it does not have to just be visual art) it can be digital or handmade. It can be as simple or complicated, realistic or abstract, as you desire.
You can interpret this as literally or conceptually as you wish. Meaning, your image can be directly related to the Covid-19 pandemic or Solidarność movement or it can be your personal experiences of quarantining, social distancing interpretation of the meaning of the word Solidarność/Solidarity, and much more. It’s up to you! Participate from anywhere in the would by submitting digitally to firstname.lastname@example.org Please include a short (one sentence to a few sentences) providing your interpretation of your image. I intend to have these translated from it’s original language into Polish or English so both translations are available as part of the eventual exhibition (possibly with the original drawing/stencil). Please send/give me your digitized image by 15 April, 2020.

Sleepertown will utilise mobile technologies (Geo-Fencing) to create a parallel listening world, accessed digitally within the public realm. This world will coexist with our ‘real-world’ geographical landscape and will encourage people to move through the town of Gorey to specific spaces/places. As they move, they will trigger and immerse themselves, in new public installations/sculptures/interventions/artworks via their personal mobile devices (Phone/Tablet etc).
We are looking to commission 4-6 sonic art-works from contemporary practitioners which complement the existing landscape in interesting and challenging ways. Each selected work will be intimately linked to a specific space/place in Gorey Town and will be exhibited for a total of 6 months. Each selected artist will be paid a fee of €250 in total and will receive a feature in our accompanying publication. The call is open to individuals and collectives, however if you are submitting as a collective, the €250 is awarded to the collective.
We believe in the possibilities of sound to open, activate and interrogate the public realm, and therefore, we have attempted to keep this call as open as possible. However, we would advise all artists to ‘look & listen’ to some of the proposed spaces/places we have listed here and to use the map links to virtually visit our town. We look forward to receiving your proposals.
