>> נפרסם רעיונות, חיבורים ומחשבות שלנו ושלכם; >> נמליץ על יצירות מתאימות - קולנוע, ספרות, מוזיקה ומשחקים - ועל מאמרים והרצאות מן החוץ; >> נקיים אירועים חיים ברשת - דיונים, שיחות, ראיונות ושיחות - ונזמין אתכם להשתתף בהם;

See Less

Rapid Response For A Better Digital Future

April 21, 2020 - May 21, 2020

Eyebeam is acting immediately to invigorate artistic creation of digital futures at this moment of systemic collapse. As economies and everyday routines are disrupted around the world, Eyebeam is taking action to support artists who are imagining a more humane digital realm. We aim to help artists who will create new ways of interacting through the internet, new ways of engaging with each other, and more equitable relationships for sustainable arts practices and creative economies. It is based on the fundamental notion that radical imagination, led by artists, is a key step in building for the long term. The guiding question for this call is: how do we begin to exit surveillance capitalism as the dominating form of digital life and what can replace it? We’re asking artists to generate ideas and actionable projects that enact solutions for rebuilding digital systems, and improving the overlap and interplay between them and lived, social experience. For the first time in Eyebeam’s 20 year history, we are pausing our flagship Residency program. Instead we’re launching a new program, Rapid Response for A Better Digital Future. Grounded in the belief that artists have the most impactful and culture-shaping ideas, this fund is intended to support projects that are most responsive and potentially groundbreaking in building a better digital world. We aim to fuel new means for creating space for deep contemplation and imagination, asking not only what can be built for tomorrow, but what should be built for a sustainable and thriving next 10 or 20 years.

ECLECTIC FEST: DIGITAL REVOLUTION

For the second ever ECLECTIC Fest, we are focusing on our favourite medium: independent film!

We’re putting together an online, free, independent film festival to support our community during this terrible time. Submit your work to have it included in a Vimeo collection playlist. We will “screen” the accepted films over three days (May 15 - 17), ending with the release of our short film The Mother of Beauty on May 18.

Each film will receive a write up on our website, free promotion on our Instagram, custom fan art, and a laurel. We also will give out awards to our favourite films — these guys will get a special “Selected Favourite” laurel in addition to everything else!

This festival is something we’ve wanted to do for a while. Unfortunately due to COVID, holding this event in person is not possible. So instead, we have decided to make this event free to enter and free to participate in.

Open Call for Artist Printmakers

IPEP2020

Theme - double vision

www.ipepindia.com

In medical terms, double vision, or diplopia, is a condition in which a person sees two images of a single object. The condition has a number of potential causes ranging from an irregularity of the cornea to brain trauma caused by injury to the head, and can sometimes even be brought on by stress. Whatever the cause, the result is seeing a blurred or doubled image  — the original and its ‘ghost’. A whisper or a shadowy spectre of the original form which distorts the viewer’s perception, confusing what is really there with what is not.

In film and literature the idea of double vision is somewhat less morbid and instead serves as a commonly used narrative technique that allows the audience to explore multiple points of view from a single vantage point. The idea of a double could be used to explore a plot from the various possible experiences of a single character. Such as in Tom Tykwer’s 1998 film Run Lola Run, in which the audience consecutively views the same narrative three times, with only slight deviations to Lola’s journey each time. Or in Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde — a highly referenced 19th c novel by Robert Louis Stevenson in which the titular character embodies two completely opposing personas trapped within one body. Although only one person, both personas see and experience the world in an entirely different way than the other; a kind of double vision embedded into a single set of eyes. The use of the double has allowed writers, filmmakers and artists to bend time, to alter perception and to move freely between the reality of the ordinary world and the phantasm of the imagined one.

SEASONING SUMMER 2020

In times of change, we reach out to each other, despite the distance

Seasoning is an interdisciplinairy platform for live-art; inviting artists and performers to show new work with that slightly, but significant, different approach.

We are looking for new guest artists to join Seasoning! Because of the Covid-19, we cannot invite artists to come to the Art house, unfortunately; we have been thinking about opportunities to invite, curate, present work in a special way. So, this time no call for solo's, performances or pieces. Also no call for a digital version of your work; we treasure the necessity of the live experience of performance, of dance, of music, of engaging fine art. So, no substitutes but a different elaboration of your talent.... What we do want is to challenge you to send us a video work - no registration of existing performance work....  - but an actual videowork of 5 minutes maximum. The topic will be: Physicality - 1. The skin. Main subject in the work of United Cowboys and an urgent issue in these times. United Cowboys believes in the body and physicality as reference for (R)evolution. A selection of the applications, will be part of a big installation at our Art House, where people can walk through, one by one, to experience the images, the atmosphere and the sense of proximity. Anticipating on how the installaltion could be interesting, we made a few rules: - consider the camera as a window or mirror - so a fixed spot, not to be moved during recording - music is okay, but make sure the images also have their impact without sound - no credits in the video - we will make an overview on paper and take care people get it So, still a lot of flexibilty, we dont want to frame you more than you already are now in daily life.... HOW TO APPLY Send us an e-mail at  info@united-c.nl with a brief reason/motivation, information  about you as artist and a link to the work BEFORE JUNE 1, 2020

3. Resources

Celebrating semiotics and symbolism within the modern, contemporary, graffiti, interior and design art worlds.

Curated by@debra_lynn_manville created the Artist's choice fundraiser (copy from the last post launching this initiative) "I want to thank @thedrawingexchangearchive for speaking with me over the phone and helping me develop this idea. You send me an image thru DM that you want to sell with the price. I post it in stories. The buyer contacts the artist and works out shipping. The artist chooses to keep the money or donate it. I've included Diamonds PayPal email if you want to donate to Diamonds for promo if you sell. One piece will be shared per artist. Good luck. more infos here

NB/ we DO NOT select work to be seen. You may not see your own work as there are so many images but others are seeing them.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many artists around the world have found themselves without work, teaching, technical support, gallery work, exhibitions and sales have disappeared. In an attempt to help alleviate some of this stress@matthewburrowsstudiohas instigated the#artistsupportpledge

The concept is a simple one. You post images of your work to sell for no more than $200 (£200, €200, ¥20000) each (not including shipping.) Anyone can then buy the work. Every time you reach $1000 of sales you pledge to buy another artist's work for $200.

So make a pledge and post your work with the#artistsupportpledgeand follow the #. keep updated on news and further opportunities@artistsupportpledgeRepost and tell your friends, colleagues and collectors. Stay well and live generously.#supportartists#covid19#coronavirus#livegenerously#artistsupportpledge

how to improve your experience and have better interactions with your work

Publish quality pictures, try to extend the same energy you put in your work in the way you share it.

Be simple but professional: write captions that describe what you do, or tell a story that relates to your content.

Encourage your audience to interact with you, look what other artists are publishing.

Be Inspired/inspiring, today we enjoy little things more than ever, so let's share it with the world.

Social media can be a great opportunity to display your work and can be also a good way to show it if you do not have a website.

Visit other's artists, gallery, museum and enjoy their posts, story, and comment.

If we cannot have the usual interactions that we had while visiting a gallery, a studio, a friend, why not being supportive via the different social media platforms and be positive about each others.

Likes don't pay bills, but having a community online to share, and support each other can help you reach potential buyers, venue or collaboration.

you can find many online classes, youtube video or webinar to improve it and use it professionally.

About Hastags, hashtags defined your work and how people can find it if they don't know you.

Let's take a simple example. you are an artist you do Art, right? so you think using the hashtag #art will relate to you and that people will find you.

As right now this hastag has been used over 627 356 549, so what does that mean ?

if you publish a content with this Hashtags it will fastly disappear in the amount of publications using the same hashtag.

Be more specific about what you do

Do research to see what other creatives do

think smaller and be smarter, #contemporary_art for example 377 690 publications using this hashtag, so your post will have more chance to catch attention.

your location can also be positive. you always have to look at the bigger picture. we are small dots in a map of city, of a country, in the world.

In terms of social media, it means that you can use social media to promote your location. you can also chose a location from a country that you wish to reach, but as usual be specific, name of the street, or shop, or specific address.

Nowadays, social media are very flexible, you have many ways to be specific and have a positive impact around you and on a global market.

Be the same person in social media that you are in real life. what does that mean?

when an artist publish a new artwork, if this work is pleasant, or speaks to you, talk about the work, ask questions, or what does this artwork makes you feel. It all depends of how you express yourself generally.

if you don't like it, you don't have to say it, same as life, spare your time and no need to be negative.

One other positive side of sharing Art on Instagram is discovering other Artists, designers, Galleries, Museums, Makers or collectors around the world.

if you look on the discovery page, thanks to the different algorithms and user experience, you 'll see related content that you usually like. Tada!

Time to discover talented people from around the world, sometimes watching videos, Interviews, live performance, learn more about an artist, or a place.

One last thing, support each other, share other artists, galleries, creatives, or simple things that inspire you via your story. it 's always a good surprise and nice gesture to simply post via story somebody else work to encourage people to discover your inspiration, mood, or new techniques.

5. Artist corner

As a professional artist, there are few things to think and make happen:

  • writing your artist statement

  • having good pictures of your work

  • doing a portfolio

  • having a website

  • writing about your work

  • using social media to promote your work

  • Define reachable goals, identify your customers, invest in yourself as much as you want people to invest in you.

how to put this words in action?

One thing at the time. look what you already have around you.

do you have a corpse of works that you feel confident about?

do you think about starting a new serie?

let's start from there.

what is a statement?

To make it simple it's 4 to 5 sentences that define your work and practice.

where did you study, are you a self taught artist?

what is your work based on? what kind of materials are you using?

what do you aim to say behind your work?

what are you current and future projects?

look other artists statement to be inspired and understand the directions.
