Maya Gallery is an innovative social-artistic initiative in Israel that realizes the vision of the two founding artists, Michael Kovner and Avner Levinson, to provide an appropriate and independent exposure to artists at the beginning of their careers.

The gallery works to realize the vision and to emphasize social-community value by integrating artists from the geographic, ethnic and social periphery in Israel, and exposure to a variety of artistic and creative fields.

The selection of the artists exhibiting in the gallery is based on professional, faceless artistic criteria and the search for vibrant, fresh and intriguing sounds in their works.
This is in addition to principles relating to strengthening the internal and independent voice of the artists, preserving the freedom of creativity, a multi-generational artistic discourse and preservation of the original Israeli artistic heritage.

As a cultural space, the gallery will also serve as a venue for meetings in other artistic fields that will enable dialogue and exposure in line with the organization's vision and goals.

The artists in its represented ranks have flourished under its wing, becoming the cream of Israeli artists. Artport Tel Aviv was founded in 2011 aiming to be a home for emerging artists and a significant milestone in their artistic career.

Artport is a nonprofit organization promoting Israeli contemporary visual art, its core being a residency program for Israeli and international artists. Through additional activities such as conferences, lectures, exhibitions, professional workshops for artists and an annual art book fair, Artport serves the general public and the local art scene, promoting relations between art and society.

Artport was founded by Mr. Jason Arison, Chairman of The Ted Arison Family Foundation, continuing the Arison family’s vast activity supporting and initiating leading projects of arts and culture in Israel and the United States. Artport is part of The Center for Young Art, initiated by Jason out of his passion for the arts and his wish to support emerging artists.

We are a group of artists that opened a self-funded, egalitarian, clique-free and non-profit gallery in the heart of the sooty southern Tel-Aviv. The vision of Binyamin Gallery is to offer a chance to visiting curators (well-known as well as young graduates) and guest artists from Israel and abroad. We created a platform for fresh kick-ass exhibitions

Binyamin Gallery is managed as a cooperative by its members, all graduates of Israel’s high art institutes in their first decade of artistic activity. We provide a professional network to motivate, guide and promote the monthly collaborators, within the art discourse

At the time of the gallery inauguration, in March 2011, the group's manifesto was presented in the exhibition text by the curator, Gilad Melzer (translated freely from Hebrew:  “The opening of a cultural institution, as modest as it may be, in Israel of 2011, is not to be taken for granted. Culture, if at all present on the local radar screen of consciousness, is seen as a weak signal, and the weakest of all is that of the importance of the plastic Arts. Thus the opening of a new gallery, by a collective of Artists not driven by the pursuit of material gain, but rather looking to create another place in which it will be possible to display, err, taste, mix-up, surprise – is reason enough for a celebration..”

Hanina Contemporary Art Gallery was founded in 2008 as an exhibition and art lectures space at 25 Hanina street in Jaffa. The exhibitions included some of the best established Israeli artists as well as the younger generation.

Hanina is a truly collaborative gallery which is not based on an economic logic: its objectives include promotion of cultural dialogues and the development of a more diverse voice than the one heard in the ordinary Israeli art world.

Hanina’s diverse artistic activities include evening studies, lectures, films and video works shows or even model drawing. The 16 gallery members, graduates of various institutions and life courses, live and work in different places around Israel. These artists devote their time, talent, vision and resources to the existence of the gallery, free of any economic interests, and see Hanina’s activity as an act of giving.

Minus 1 is an art space of Haaretz collection. The collection, now more than 20 years old, is devoted exclusively to contemporary Israeli art. Consisting largely of paintings, the collection also contains photography, sculpture, installations and video art. It represents Israeli art in all its streams and varieties, created by dozens of artists in the past four decades, beginning in the 1970s. All the major themes dealt with by Israeli art in this period are reflected in the collection: social identity, nationhood, class and gender; center-periphery and local-universal interrelations; reflexive issues regarding the status of artworks, the power of the image and the role of art; formalistic questions concerning style, form, medium and art-reality relations; and more. At the same time, the collection can be characterized in terms of two central axes of “here and now”: First, the exclusive focus on Israeli art stems from a deep involvement in the events that unfold in this place, and thus the collection displays a particular interest in critical art of a political-social character; and second, the decision to collect contemporary art springs from curiosity about the emergence of present-day trends, leading to an interest in original works that manifest those trends.
